How to repair or replace wheel hub?

The component can be repaired only if the defect is caused by the bearing. To do so, you need to lift the car with the help of the jack, demount the wheel, remove the hub and replace bearings in it. However, this work should be entrusted to professionals, as it requires special skills.

If the hub housing is defective, it should be replaced completely. This can be done by yourself. To replace the component the next actions should be carried out:

Using a jack, lift the car body, loosen fastening nuts or bolts of the wheels and install wheel chocks in advance.
Unscrew nuts or bolts fastening the wheel and demount it.
Block the wheel from turning, and unscrew the CV joint nut.
Remove the brake caliper without disconnecting it from the brake system. Demount the brake disc.
Unscrew bolts fastening the hub with a steering knuckle, and remove the defective part.
Clean the steering knuckle from corrosive spots, lubricate its working surface and all bolts with graphite lubricant.
Install a new component and perform assembling in the reverse order.
