How to repair or replace an alternator voltage regulator?
The alternator regulator is usually not repaired. In case of wear-out or significant damages the part is to be replaced. This is recommended to be done at a service station because the process is rather laborious and requires demounting of the alternator. To replace the relay one should stop voltage supply to the battery, disconnect the wire block from the socket, demount the alternator, and remove its rear cover. Then locate the regulator, disconnect contact wires from it and demount the broken component, after that install a new one into its place, then assemble the unit in reverse order.
