  1. Terminals oxidation and wear of button elements.

    • Excessive force needs to be applied to the button to actuate the power window.
    • When pressing the button, the window moves very slowly.
    • Button pressing activates only window raising, it is impossible to lower it.
  2. Electric supply failure.
    • Rear power windows do not activate when pressing the buttons.
    • The power window operates only when the buttons on the main unit at the driver’s side are pressed.
    • The window lowers right after its raising.

How to replace power window button?

The power window switch is not repairable; it should be replaced if defect signs are found.

The replacement procedure is quite easy – any car owner can do it. Before starting the work, study car technical documentation, as the sequence of steps may vary for cars of different models.

Generally, the algorithm of power window button replacement for any car is the following:

  1. Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal.
  2. Remove the door trim. To do so, you need to pry with a screwdriver the decorative caps of the bolts which fasten the door trim to the door panel. Then, unscrew upper and lower trim fastening screws, remove the decorative panel and the door lock button. Pry the door trim and demount it.
  3. Release the retainers fastening the power window buttons unit.
  4. Remove the defective switch, install a new part into its place.
  5. Reassemble all the parts in the reversed order.

The algorithm of buttons replacement is the same for power window buttons mounted in driver and passenger doors.
